IMPSA Wind, in keeping with its mission of offering integral solutions, is present in all the links of the wind energy generation chain. The first link is data collection and the technical – financial analysis of wind resources. This lets us determine which places have the greatest wind potential and which places can be developed most profitably.
IMPSA Wind is working in this field in the following areas:
- General project analysis and search for the most appropriate places on the basis of wind atlas interpretation, study of electrical grids, etc.
- Calculation and setting up of anemometrical towers for measuring winds, designed in order to minimize measuring mistakes.
- Wind measuring campaigns, tower data collection and processing.
- Wind data analysis and determination of pertinent wind parameters for wind projects.
- Site classification according to IEC 61400-1 Regulation, 3rd edition.
- Optimization of wind turbine lay-out on ground.
- Wind energy forecasts and uncertainty estimation.
The last chain link is the development of wind farms. This development covers the assembly and start-up of a determined group of wind turbines at the sites identified through the above mentioned analysis.
IMPSA Wind, through IMPSA Energy, has signed contracts to develop 3 wind farms in the northeast of Brazil and 2 in the south of this country, which are now under construction. These contracts include all the civil and electrical works, the feasibility studies to obtain the environmental permits, financing and all the remaining tasks necessary to ensure that energy production in these farms is carried out under the best possible conditions.
