The multinational company that provides total solutions in the field of alternative energies opens a Wind Service Center in Uruguay. The company aims at incorporating locally manufactured components into its products.
IMPSA, the Latin American leader in wind energy investments and generation, is expanding operations to the Uruguayan market.
The multinational company, a total solution provider in the field of alternative energies, will open a Wind Service Center in Uruguay. The Center will offer Operation and Maintenance services to the wind generators installed in that country.
Company officers believe that this opportunity will make it possible not only to incorporate locally manufactured components into the units developed by IMPSA, but also to train and employ local people to work in the areas where its wind generators are installed, which will result in the creation of high-value added jobs.
The decision to launch operations in Uruguay was made after over a year of negotiations with Uruguayan industrialists in view of the upcoming tenders for renewable energies.
Thus IMPSA expands its presence in Latin America, where it is developing wind projects in several other countries, a fact which makes it a leader in investments in and generation of wind power in the region: 1 GW of installed power, of which 530 MW correspond to Brazil and the rest to future developments in Argentina, Uruguay and Chile.
IMPSA’s wind generators, specially designed for the characteristics of regional winds, have been fully developed by the Company’s engineers. For example, the IWP-70 model with a 70-m rotor diameter has been designed for the strong Class S winds in Patagonia, whereas the IWP-100, with a 100-m rotor diameter, has been designed for the high-average-speed and low-turbulence winds prevalent in some regions in Brazil.
